At last, the memoirs of Ascher Levy of Reischshoffen are available in French
He lived almost a century before Glückel Hameln. He left a manuscript in Hebrew in which he tells his life between 1598 and 1635. Rabbi Moïse Ginsburger published a translation into German in 1913.
Ernest Kallmann translated it into French and Professor Simon Scwarzfuchs improved the trabnslation by referring to the original manuscript.
Ascher yields many historical and genealogical details. An index is provided.
